2/12/2012: World Alternative Crawling Day!

Today is a special day, folks. Today is the day we end the discrimination and celebrate our babies for who they are, not for how traditionally they locomote! Today is also the day we show videos of our babies moving across the kitchen floor in really cute ways.

February 12th 2012 is WAC: World Alternative Crawling day!

Are you tired of having your baby sidelined by the normative developmental ideals of our culture? Is your little one marginalized at playgroups and grandma's house, seen as an object of fascination and not the adorable genius she is just because she doesn't...

crawl 1  (krôl)

1. To move slowly on the hands and knees or by dragging the body along the ground; creep.
2. To advance slowly, feebly, laboriously, or with frequent stops.
3. To proceed or act servilely.
4. To be or feel as if swarming or covered with moving things.

I dunno about you, but I don't like the sounds of that. Doesn't apply to my kid. Servile? I think not. Feeble? Not in a million years.  Creepy?  Well. Only sometimes.

(I kid, I kid). But yes, there are many good ways to get around. None of them will harm your baby since babies don't do things that don't feel right to their bodies (that's an adult thing). All of them are really frickin' cute. We have...

The Octopus:

The Dolphin:

The Roadrunner:

The Aguilera Alligator:

The Squirrel ("Little Nutcase"):

The Puppy:

The French Bulldog Puppy:

The Lion:

And last but so far from least,
The Kangaroo!

Happy WAC day, everyone! Tell your friends. Send us your videos. And please, please celebrate responsibly (e.g. not like this: Baby Crawling Derby).
